From Johannesburg:

 

Alternative Route – Oliviershoek Pass - THIS ROUTE IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR ANYONE TOWING. THERE ARE TWO SINKHOLES AND SEVER SUBSIDIENCE. AT THIS STAGE THERE IS NO ROAD SIGNAGE TO WARN ROAD USERS .

Take N3 South to Harrismith.

At Harrismith take N5 towards Kestell/Bethlehem.

Go +/- 4km then turn left onto R74 towards Bergville/Phuthaditjhaba (Alternative Route to Durban).

Go +/- 8km and take 1st left turn (R74) to Bergville.

Travel past Sterkfontein Dam and continue down Oliviershoek Pass.

Continue on R74 through Bergville to Winterton.

At Winterton turn right at the traffic lights onto R600 (Engen Garage on corner).

Go 25km on R600 towards Champagne Castle Hotel.

Turn left onto D19 and follow signs for 1km to Mountain Splendour.

 

N3 Route – Van Reenen’s Pass

Take N3 South down Van Reenen’s Pass and through Tugela Toll Plaza.

Take the 1st exit after the Tugela Toll Plaza and turn LEFT towards Ladysmith (turning right takes you to Bergville – do NOT go to Bergville).

Go 4km and turn RIGHT onto the R600 towards Winterton and go past Spioenkop Dam and Nature Reserve entrance.

At the T-junction, turn LEFT on R74 and go 1km into Winterton.

In Winterton turn right at the traffic lights onto R600 (Engen Garage on corner).

Go 25km on R600 towards Champagne Castle Hotel.

Turn left onto D19 and follow signs for 1km to Mountain Splendour.

 

From Durban:

Take N3 North to ESTCOURT NORTH, EXIT 179. Do NOT go towards Giants Castle.

Turn left and go 28km through Loskop and past the Injusuthi turn off.

Turn left onto R600 at Thokozisa and travel towards Champagne Castle Hotel.

Go 12km then turn left onto D19 and follow signs for 1km to Mountain Splendour.
