Cycle Shop

Mountain Splendour Cycles is well stocked with most spares needed for all levels of bicycles, many accessories and a selection of kiddies and adult bikes for sale. The shop stocks brands such as Shimano, SRAM, KMC, Fox, Rockshox, Ryder, Giant, Lezyne, Maxxis, Funky pants, Enduren, First Ascent and Ultra Spire. various helmets, Shimano shoes and so much more…..

Bike Hire

Mountain Splendour Cycles currently has 17 bikes that can be hired by our guests. All bikes are 27 and a half inch, with front shocks and are hired with a helmet. The bikes have flat peddles (suitable for takkies) so bring along your own pedals if you wish to cleat in. We also have baby carrier seats for hire.

Bikes can be hired for corporate team building or school groups for self-guided tours on our trails.

Safe purpose built trails for running or MTB

Mountain bike trails

Mountain Splendour has a purpose-built single track and a skills park available free for guests staying at the resort. These trails link in with the Valley-wide network of Cathkin Trails (permits required).

For guests not staying with us, you are welcome to ride our trails but are required to sign an indenmnity and pay trail fees at our office.
(Office opens at 7:3oam in summer and 8:00 in Winter)

Our Team

We spent many fabulous hours trail running and mountain biking all over South Africa. From the begging we wanted to enable our staff and other keen athletes from the local area to have the same wonderful experiences.
We started a Mountain Splendour sponsored team in 2010 assisting with bike purhases, maintenance, kit, entry and stipends for travelling. The team has seen some members come and go, but over the years this group of riders and runners have had opportunities to participate in events from Rhodes Run, Mont-Aux- Sources, Karkloof Challenge, Berg 'n Bush, Oxpecker and numerous other events. This is due to the kind sponsorship offered by many of the race organisers.
